Print magazines or journals

McGrath Library subscribes to a number of print journals and magazines, both scholarly and popular.  All of these magazines and journals are located directly behind the Circulation/Information desk.  If you are looking for something specific, or would like to browse our titles, just ask a librarian.

Directly in front of you when you enter through the main doors, is a group of computers.  These computers contain Microsoft Office 2003 applications (such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), as well as internet access.

The printer (black and white only) is also located in the middle of this group of computers.  Printouts for documents under 50 pages long are free for all Hilbert faculty, staff, and students as well as St. Bonaventure Buffalo Center Students.  Alumni, Friends of the Library, and community members are charged 5 cents per page printed.

Immediately beyond the computers and Circulation/Information desk you will find the Reference Section of the library.  The reference section contains a variety of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other helpful resources on a wide variety of topics.  None of the books within the Reference section can be checked out, but they can be used within the library and can be photocopied.  Please ask a librarian for help if you need to find information on a certain topic.

Books located in McGrath Library are organized by the Library of Congress classification system (http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/lcco/lcco.html).  Letters A-HX are located on the first floor, and J-Z on the second.  Please refer to the Section 3:  Finding Materials Within the Library for more information on how to search the library catalog and find the materials you need.

The current periodicals are located behind the Circulation/Information desk.  A librarian will be happy to help you find a specific journal or magazine.  Previous issues are available as well.  Just ask a librarian for help.

Also located on the first floor are a photocopier, staplers, and reading/studying areas.  The staplers are located right by the main doors.  There are also pencil sharpeners, scissors, extra pens, pencils, and paperclips available for student use.  There are numerous tables, couches, and chairs scattered throughout the first floor that are perfect places for studying and reading.  There is also a study/relaxation area in the main foyer where you can read, study, meet friends, or use your cell phone.

Second Floor

If you make an immediate left after you enter the library through the main doors, you will be able to walk up the stairs to the second floor of the library.  The second floor contains the rest of the circulating collection (J-Z), as well as the Oversized Book Collection, Leisure Reading Collection, and Law Reference Section.  There are eight computers located in the middle of the second floor.  All have internet access as well as Microsoft Office applications.   There is also a second floor printer adjacent to the computers.  In addition, the second floor also has numerous tables and seating areas available to students for studying.

Restrooms

There are both men’s and women’s restrooms on the first and second floors.  There is a water fountain located near the restrooms on each floor.

Where is the Library Conference Room?

  • When you enter the library through the main doors, walk past the Circulation/Information  desk and make an immediate left and go through a set of doors.  You will see the Library Conference Room down the hall in front of you.  Many classes and meetings are held here.

Where is Seminar 2 [ML II]?

  • Seminar 2 is located in the St. Bonaventure wing attached to McGrath Library.  When you enter through the main library doors, make an immediate right and you will see the  door that takes you to the St. Bonaventure wing.
