“Creation is not a property, which we can rule over at will; or, even less, is the property of only a few: Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude.”
-- Pope Francis
Celebrate Earth Day with Center for Career & Community Engagement and the Office of Campus Ministry & Mission Integration cleaning up the shorelines of WNY!
Hilbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to participate in Hilbert College’s Earth Day Service Project, in conjunction with Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER Spring Shoreline Sweep on Saturday, April 22nd. Hilbert volunteers will be assisting at Times Beach Nature Preserve. This nature preserve is one of the most valuable bird conservation sites in the Great Lakes area for migrating birds and breeding species. In 1996, the Niagara River Corridor was designated a globally significant bird area. This means the health and well-being of this local preserve affects populations and conservation of birds and wildlife on a global basis.
Volunteers should be prepared to be outside for the duration of their service. Transportation to and from Times Beach will be provided, along with a light breakfast before we leave for the morning.
Register today using the form below.
