BUFFALO, NY – Adam Weaver’s 9 kills led Hilbert College in the Hawks United Volleyball Conference league loss at D’Youville College January 31. Hilbert moved to 2-3 (0-1) and D’Youville improved to 4-1 (1-0).
The Spartans jumped out to a 19-8 lead to open the first set as they cruised to a 25-15 finish. Hilbert challenged the hosts in the second set (26-24) before D’Youville turned the heat back up and closed the match, 25-18.
Matt Loos had 11 kills while Jay Senozetnik earned 33 assists for the Spartans, who finished with (.186) hitting percentage.
The Hawks return to action Sunday, February 3 when they host an AMCC tri-match with Penn State Altoona and D’Youville. The Lions bring their first-year program to Hamburg and face the Hawks at 10 am and the Spartans at noon before Hilbert looks for a revenge match against D’Youville at 2pm.
Plenty of time to make the XLVII Super Bowl kick-off at 6:30 pm.
