Matula Named December Student-Athlete of Month

Adam Matula (Campbell, NY/ Campbell-Savona) has been named Hilbert College’s Student-Athlete of the month for December 2009 for his outstanding contributions to the men’s basketball team.
On December 5 against Medaille College, Matula was 2-3 from behind the arc, a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line tallying 8 points in 22 minutes of action. Matula had a similar solid performance on December 13, recording 9 points, 2 assists and 1 steal while shooting a perfect 2-2 from three point range.
As a freshman, Matula has started in nine of twelve games the Hawks have competed in this year. Matula has made an impact on the court averaging 19 minutes and 4 points a game. Matula is also 10/11 from the free throw line this season putting him at the top of the charts on the team as a 90% free throw shooter.
Matula is currently enrolled as a Communications major carrying a 3.2 gpa. He is expected to graduate in the spring of 2013.
