Golfers at Peak N'Peak

FINDLEY, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men’s golf team finished 12 out of 12 teams that competed at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on September 23 at the Peak N'Peak course. Grove City captured the team title by one stroke and a total of 332, while Westminster and Penn State Altoona tied for second place. The Titans won a tiebreaker with the fifth golfer’s score to claim the runners-up trophy. Hilbert finished with a score of 426. (click here for the overall results.)
Junior John Nowak (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) lead the five Hilbert golfs with a team best 97. Nowak shot 50 on the first half of the course, then improved in the back nine with a 47. Orchard Park native, Michael Werner was the most consistent golfer shooting 51-52 for the final 103 score. The Hawks had a tie score of 113 between junior Patrick Brooks (Orchard Park, NY) and junior Jim Pernick (Tonawanda, NY/St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute). Freshman Joe Pernick’s score did not count in the tally (120).
Hilbert has a busy upcoming weekend when they compete at both the Medaille College Invitational (Tonawanda, NY) on September 25 and then travel to the Mount Aloysius College Invite in central PA on September 26.
