Pittsford, NY – Alfred State, which had four runners in the top eight slots, finished first with 34 points to capture the men's team event at the Golden Flyer Invitational 6K race.  The host institution,  Nazareth College, ran to a  second place finish with 49 points outdistancing Daemen College who finished with 85 points. Hilbert College men’s team finished with 255 points which was good for 9th place.

Nazareth’s Matt Morales and Peter Fekete finished first and second respectively. Alfred State then secured four of the top eight finishing positions to gain the best team score for the day. Hilbert’s fastest runner, senior Aaron Lawrence (Fish Kill, NY/John Jay) {in photo to right} crossed the line in 29:19.72 earning 45 points toward the Hilbert team score.
 Other Hawks competing in the 6K race were Lenny Messina (30:55.53), Jeff Gauthier (32:17.10), Paul Coleman (38:04.74) and Stephen Crane (38:16.60).
Next weekend, Saturday, October 16, Hilbert College will run in the CCOC race hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, NY. This Cross Country Only Competition is designed for institutions who do not offer any spring track and field experience to their student-athletes.
