Red Hawks Fly Over Hilbert

Hamburg, NY – Bethanie Moreschi had a hot foot for La Roche College when the visiting Red Hawks cruised to a 6-2 victory over Hilbert College in women’s soccer on October 16. Moreschi scored 5 goals for La Roche allowing them to maintain their third place slot in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference  standings (4-2). Hilbert’s Mary Zinni (Batavia, NY/Batavia) made 10 saves in goal in the losing effort. The Hawks drop to 1-5 in league  and 4-10 overall.

La Roche’s Erica Pitacciato scored the first goal of game at 10:01 and Moreschi followed at the 20 minute mark. Hilbert’s Kayla Norman (Brockport, NY/Brockport) scored her first goal of the season off a crossed ball by junior Alyssa Hulbert (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) but five minutes later, Moreschi scored again. The Hawks did not quit as Hulbert scored her tenth goal of season (Nicole Blair assist) making it a 3-2 game at half time. The second period was all player #5 as she went on to score the games last three goals in the last 27 minutes of the game.
Up next for the Hawks is another home AMCC game against Penn State Behrend (who sits in second place in league standings) on October 20 at 1 pm.
