Hamburg, NY – Phil Scaffidi’s 19 points led four players in double-digit scoring as the Golden Flyers flew past the Hilbert Hawks (69-54) in men’s basketball action December 17. Hilbert’s Roman Brown (Buffalo, NY/South Park) had a hot night for the home team shooting 6-9 from the floor and foul line, netting 18 points. Hilbert drops to 3-7 while Nazareth improves to 7-2. Both teams have a few weeks off before their next game in the New Year.
The Hawks struggled from the perimeter going 1-12 from behind the arc and had to adjust their interior shots so that Nazareth’s big man Greg Lothridge couldn’t get his hands on it. The 6-11 center ended up with 4 blocks in his 20 minutes of action. Dan McFarland (Lancaster, NY/St. Mary’s) chipped in 5 buckets and 2 free throws giving him 12 points for the evening.
Hilbert plays their first game in the 2011 year at Medaille College January 5 at 8pm.
