Hamburg, NY – D’Youville College took their 34-18 half time lead and exploded into a 77-37 AMCC road win over Hilbert College January 12. Senior Holly Beats (Marilla, NY/Iroquois) hit for 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had 4 blocks for the Spartans who improve to 4-10 (3-4, AMCC). Junior Magan Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Bennett/ECC) matched Beats rebounding efforts, but her 23 points were game high for both teams. Hilbert shot a season low 21.5% from the floor as they move to 1-12 (0-7, AMCC) for the season.
It was D’Youville’s height advantage that helped produce multiple scoring opportunities out-rebounding the Hawks 26-15 on the offensive glass. The quick, eighty-five minute game had few interruptions because of turn-overs or jump balls and the visitor’s bench outscored Hilbert (39-2).
D’Youville’s junior Kaitlyn Roland (Victor, NY/Victor) shot 50% behind the arc finishing with 12 points and junior Hanna Norton (Wyoming, NY/Pavilion) secured a double-double with 11 points/10 rebounds (5 offensive).
Junior Julie Bossard (Arkport, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) grabbed 7 rebounds, had 4 block shots and scored 5 points to support Campbell’s effort for the Hawks.
Hilbert travels to Cresson, PA Saturday when they play Mount Aloysius College at 2pm.
