Myrtle Beach, SC - Hilbert opened their 2011 softball season up at the Fastpitch Dreams tournament with a rare triple-header game schedule. It’s hard to determine if it was the back to back to back start times (9:30am, 11:30am and 2pm) which contributed to the team’s final outcome or if the Hawks just weren’t “outdoor” ready yet. Morrisville took the first game (8-0) and Baptist Bible grabbed the second victory (9-0) before Pikeville College stole the final game (5-1) from the Hawks.
In both early morning games, Morrisville and Baptist Bible jumped out to leads the Hawks couldn’t recover from and captured both games after 5 innings. Hilbert’s Hasley Baker (Scio, NY/Scio) hit a long ball home run against Pikeville preventing the third shutout for the day.
March 15th brings a new day of softball for the Hawks. They will rebound tonight and get ready to play Keystone (9:30am) and Becker (11:30am) tomorrow morning before they enjoy their first afternoon off and recover from five games in two days.
