Cocoa Beach, FL – The 2011 Hilbert baseball season opened at the Cocoa Beach Expo with the Hawks losing 12-3 to Rochester College (MI) in a 4pm game March 13. The Warriors (4-4) out of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) took the early contest from Hilbert (0-1) who competes in the NCAA Division III level.
Rochester scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning, continued with three more runs in each of the next two innings and held a 12 – 0 lead before the Hawks were able push three runs across the plate in the top of the sixth. Each team went scoreless their next at bats, and the game ended after Hilbert’s last ups at the top of the seventh.
