The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released its 2009 Baseball Preseason Polls. The Hawks were picked by the league’s coaches to finish 9th out of 10 teams.
The Baseball squad returns eight members from last year’s team, and will be led by head coach Rob Gladwell in his third season. Hilbert will look to senior Brandon Brown (Lyndonville, NY/Lyndonville) and sophomore Frank Simmeth (Cheektowaga, NY/St. Mary’s Lancaster) to anchor the Hawks’ lineup. Brown led the team with 5 home runs last season and a team-leading 18 RBIs, while batting .333. Simmeth batted .306, and was second on the team in RBIs with 11.
The Hilbert baseball team will look to their returning experience as well as an influx of youth to try and make some noise in the AMCC in 2009.
