The Hilbert College baseball team earned a 4-0 victory over Franciscan University on Sunday afternoon (March 15, 2009) at the Coco Expo Baseball Tournament in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The win evens the Hawk's record at 1-1 on the season.
Freshman Nicholas Sherman (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) recorded the shutout on the mound for the Hawks, pitching a complete game. Sherman struck out six batters and allowed just two hits.
Sophomore Frank Simmeth (Cheektowaga, NY/St. Mary's) went 2-4 in the game. Senior Brandon Brown (Lyondonville, NY/L.A. Webber) went 1-4 and scored a run. Sophomore Colby Miller (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) was 2-4 with a run scored.
