The Hilbert College Baseball team fell in a double header to the University of Pittsburg at Greensburg April 18, 2009, by scores of 9-1 and 8-2. The Hawk’s record now stands at 5-23 overall and 1-13 in AMCC play.
In game 1, Hilbert scored their lone run in the third inning, trailing 5-0. The Hawk’s run was plated when freshman Matthew Militello (Depew, NY/Lancaster) reached on a fielder’s choice, and junior Dave Cunningham (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) was able to reach home.
In game 2, the ballgame was tied 2-2 after 4 innings. A six run fifth broke the game open for Greensburg, and Hilbert could not catch up. Hilbert managed just two hits in the second game.
Sophomore Ryan LaCorte (Cheektowaga, NY/JFK) was 1-3 at the plate in game 2, and scored a run and also had the lone Hawk RBI.
The Hawks return to the Diamond April 19, for a nine inning contest with St. Vincent College of Latrobe, PA.
