D’Youville Defeats Hilbert Men’s Basketball Team

HAMBURG, N.Y. – D’Youville College defeated the Hilbert College men’s basketball team 69-62 on Tuesday night in NCAA Division III action. The loss drops the Hawks to 4-13 on the season.
Sam Gioia (W. Seneca West/West Seneca, NY) scored 19 points and dished out six assists to lead Hilbert in the losing effort. Sean Kenney (Tonawanda/Tonawanda, NY) contributed 12 points, while Mike Zmuda (Gowanda Central/Gowanda, NY) added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Javon Jones scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Spartans, while Sanquin Starks added 16 points.
The Hawks, who are now 1-2 in NEAC play, will host Keuka College Friday night in a critical conference game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
