Cross Country runs at Championships

ERIE, PA – Penn State Behrend was the host this fall for the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship race for both the men’s and women’s teams. On a cold and muddy Saturday afternoon, all 11 member schools completed the race on the men’s side but only 10 on the women’s ticket. Hilbert College’s harriers finished the championships with both groups finishing 9th. Penn State Behrend captured the men’s team title (8K) for the third straight season and Franciscan women (6K)  won their second in as many tries since they joined the AMCC in the fall of 2008. Hilbert top 5 men finished in 30, 48, 51, 60, 62 places which was good for 251 points. The women’s team completed the race earning 245 points (40, 41, 42, 60, 62 place).

Rob Minkel was the men’s top finisher with a time 33:20.3 and several runners  on the women’s team decided to stay together to encourage sophomore Amanda Trickey who was coming back from a stress fracture. Trickey, senior Amanda Phillips and freshman Destyn Brown crossed the finish line together with smiles on their faces.
