Windy Saturday Gets the Golfers

Tonawanda, NY – The Hilbert College men’s golf team battled cross town rivals and mother nature on Saturday, September 25th when they completed in the Medaille College Invitational at the Sheridan Park Golf Club. Junior John Nowak (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) was the top performer for the Hawks when he finished the par 71 course with an 88 score. His 5th place finish is the best score/finish for the Hawks this year. Medaille College took their own Invitational with a team score of 329 which was thirty-five strokes better than second place finisher D’Youville College (364). Hilbert’s over-all score of 380 finished the field of competitors.

Freshman Michael Werner (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) tied fellow teammate and Quaker Patrick Brooks with a 97. Junior Jim Pernick and his brother Joe (Tonawanda, NY/ St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute) finished in 16th (98) and 18th (117).
The Hawks will be back at it when they travel to Mount Aloysius on Sunday, September 26th for the Mount Aloysius College Invitational.
