The Hilbert College men’s soccer team squared off against Cazenovia College on Friday evening. The Hawks fell 1-0 to the host Wildcats.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half, but in the 71st minute the Wildcats beat sophomore keeper Eric Davies (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) on a corner kick that was headed into the goal. Davies played a strong game in net for the Hawks, making 6 saves. Overall, the Hawks were outshot 20-7.
“It was an evenly played game tonight,” said head coach Tim Kronenwetter. “We had some chances to score but did not capitalize, ultimately I think some nagging injuries caught up with us and we ran out of steam in the end.”
The Hawks return to action at home Sept. 25, when they host Thiel College at 5:00 p.m.
