Hamburg, NY – The men’s soccer team at Hilbert College hosted Keuka College in a late afternoon non-conference game on Monday, September 20th. The visitors came out on top with a 4-0 victory improving their record to 3-1-1. Hilbert gave up two quick goals in a span of seventy-five seconds giving the Storm a 2-0 lead before the 10 minute mark. Keuka then came back with another shot on target at the 19 minute mark sealing the victory before intermission. The second half found the Hawks playing catch-up as they outshot Keuka (6-3), but another well placed ball at the 77 minute mark found the back of the net finishing the scoring for the day.

On paper, it was an even game in statistics: 14-12 shots (for Hilbert), 5-5 saves, and 4-2 corner kicks (Hilbert), but it was the speedy forward line of Keuka getting the right angles on the Hilbert keepers. Freshman Ed Sarcione (Eden, NY/Eden) led the nine different Hawks who took shots, with his two being on goal.
Hilbert drops to 0-7 on the year with their last home non-conference game set for Wednesday, September 22 against Thiel College. The women’s teams are playing first with the expected start time for the men’s game to be 5 pm.
