Hamburg, NY – Hilbert College’s Edward Sarcione has been named as the Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for men’s soccer with the week ending October 3, 2010. The Hawks played only one game during the week, but the efforts of Sarcione (and his team mates) did not go unnoticed. The sophomore forward from Eden high school scored both goals for the Hawks in their 2-2 tie with Franciscan University of Steubenville on October 2. He first found net off a penalty kick just before half time, sending the teams to intermission with a 1-1 score. Sarcione’s second goal came with less than one second left in regulation when he headed a crossed ball past the goalie for the draw. After an additional 20 minutes of play, the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
