ALFRED, NY – The Hilbert men’s soccer team returned home after a 3-0 road loss at Alfred University September 28. The Hawks were held to a season-low three shots for the 90 minute game while their defense gave up 17 open looks at goal. With the non-conference loss, the Hawks can now focus strictly on their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game schedule moving forward.
Alfred set the tone of the match with 11 first-half shots taking a 2-0 lead by intermission. At the 9 minute mark, Jeffery Thomas scored the game winner. Thirteen minutes later, Eric Deemer put one past Hilbert’s Kamil Cislak who played 80 minutes of the match. And the final goal was made by Tony Gai (assisted by Thomas) at 50:47.
Alfred transitioned through three goalies while Hilbert used Cislak (4 saves) and Scott Walker (9:20).
The Hawks (0-9-1) travel to Steubenville, OH for their first AMCC road contest against Franciscan University October 1 (1pm).
