Hamburg, NY – Dan McFarland (Lancaster, NY/St. Mary’s) hit 16 of 22 free throws to lead his team to a 74-68 AMCC victory over Penn State Altoona January 9. With a 29-28 Hawks half time led, McFarland turned up his offensive focus and chipped in 23 second half points to help the team secure their second conference game in as many days.
Although the Lions out rebounded the Hawks by 4 on the offensive boards, they weren’t able to convert those possessions into enough points to earn the victory. The Blue and White had fewer turnovers and six blocks for the game (McFarland had 3) safeguarding their win.
Hilbert got 8 points out of freshman CJ Hodge (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) and sophomore Chris Parrott (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw). Keon Rembert (Bennetsville, SC/Archbishop Walsh) contributed 5 points and cleaned the glass with 13 rebounds.
Hilbert improves their record to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the AMCC, as the Lions fall 2-10 overall and 2-4 in conference play. The Hawks hope to continue their success when they host cross-town rival D’Youville College Wednesday, January 12th at 8 pm.
