Hamburg, NY - On February 24, 2011 Bill Schultz, head men’s volleyball coach at Hilbert College, was presented with his Class of 2010 North East Collegiate Volleyball Association’s (NECVA) Hall of Fame plaque. Making the presentation to Schultz on behalf of the NECVA was John Hutton, who coached Schultz during his undergraduate years at D’Youville College.
Schultz was a member of the nationally recognized D’Youville College team and was named a Division III First Team All-American in 2004. As well, in 2003 and 2004, the Grand Island native was honored as the NECVA Western Division Player of the Year. Schultz extended his playing days when he competed professionally for the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Beach Tour for two seasons. During that time, he qualified for the Main Draw Tournament and faced the Olympic Gold Medalists.
The NECVA Hall of Fame is a virtual Hall of Fame, whose sole purpose is to recognize and acknowledge outstanding achievements and contributions to the NECVA and/or the sport of Men’s Volleyball. Those nominated include coaches, players, administrators, and organizations who have made an impact on NECVA and/or the sport of men’s volleyball, and or off the court. The inaugural class was inducted on April 4, 2009 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the 2009 NECVA Sports Award Banquet.
