Men’s Lacrosse Appear in NCAA Division III Rankings

Hamburg, NY – Hilbert College lacrosse, in the program's first year of varsity competition, is ranked near the top in several national NCAA Division III categories as of the March 15th rankings.
After the Hawks swept their first two games (19-6 over Abington, 14-8 Alvernia), the team is ranked #1 in Ground Balls Per Game (58.00), #1 in Win Percentage (tied with 33 other institutions without a blemish on their record), #5 in Points Per Game (26.00), #5 in Scoring Offensive (16.50), #6 in Scoring Margin (9.50), #6 in Face-Off Win Percentage (.741), #8 in Assists Per Game (9.50), and tied with 12 other institutions at #32 in Scoring Defense (7.00).
Individually, four Hawk athletes appear in the rankings for their hard work and strong efforts in their first two collegiate games for Hilbert. Ryan Wagner (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) is ranked #2 in Ground Balls Per Game (13.00), #5 in Face-Off Win Percentage (.789), tied with seven other athletes at #9 for Goals Per Game (4.00) and tied with ten other athletes – including team mates Josh Baker and Kori Halftown – at #14 for Points Per Game (5.00); Kori Halftown (Gowanda, NY/Gowanda) and Sean Purtill (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) are tied with eight other athletes at #3 in Assists Per Game (3.00); Purtill is tied with five other athletes at #29 in Points Per Game (4.50); and Josh Baker (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) is ranked #6 in Goals Per Game (4.50).
Hilbert College, located in suburban Hamburg, N.Y., south of Buffalo, is a private four-year college founded in 1957 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition.
