Greensburg, PA – The Hawks dropped a three-set non-conference loss to Thiel College March 16th (25-17, 25-20, 25-13) in men’ volleyball. Adam Weaver (Stow, OH/Archbishop Hoban) was a bright spot hitting (.273) for Hilbert but the Hawks didn’t have much success at the net with the team hitting (.099) and only two blocks total for the match.
Fellow Eden high school team mates, sophomore middle Anthony Blasz and outside hitter, freshman Fred Sickau, both finished with 6 kills. Senior RJ Sykora (Stow, OH/Stow Munroe Falls) passed for 23 assists, had team-leading five digs, while getting credit for one service ace along with each of the Eden boys.
The Hawks (1-21, 0-8) will host the 9th ranked Medaille College (19-4, 7-1) March 18th in the final United Volleyball Conference game of the season. The department will also be honoring the two seniors on the squad, Dan Wolfe and RJ Sykora just prior to the 7 pm game.
Hilbert will then travel Saturday morning to Medaille College to host Eastern Mennonite University in a 1pm match.
