Hamburg, NY – The Hilbert Hawks hosted their first home game on campus this afternoon against the Mustangs from Morrisville State in men’s lacrosse in front of 100 fans. Morrisville (7-2) took the win from the Hawks (26-15) but the fan support at the game carried the team through to the final horn.
By the end of the first quarter, the Mustangs were on a roll outscoring the Hawks 9 - 2. In the second quarter, the Hawks picked up their intensity and capitalized on their face-off victories cutting into Morrisville’s 13-7 lead. Ryan Wagner (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) led the Hawks with 2 of his team-leading 6 goals in the second period explosion.
The experience of varsity play showed in the second half with Morrisville outscoring the Hawks 13-8 en route to their fifth in a row victory. Morrisville’s seniors Adam Lewis and Andrew Steins netted 7 and 6 goals for the Mustangs in the win.
