Buffalo, NY - Hilbert College and D'Youville College got to play their AMCC baseball doubleheader today at Coca-Cola Field. Hilbert hung on for a first-game win and won going away in the nightcap. Today's sweep of D'Youville marks the first time in AMCC play that Hilbert captured back to back league games.
In game one, Hilbert scored four times in the first three innings then held off a late D'Youville charge to win 4-3.
D'Youville made it interesting, scoring three times in the sixth. The Spartans also got a runner to second with one out in the seventh but left the tying run stranded to end the game. Jordan Vokes went 2-3 with two RBI for D'Youville.
In the nightcap, Hilbert scored early and often en route to a 14-1 win and the doubleheader sweep.
Hilbert also recieved a stellar pitching performance from Garrett Pauly, who tossed a two-hiiter and struck out eight for the win.
Hilbert improves to 10-20 overall, 6-10 in the AMCC and in both situations, they have doubled their win record from one season ago (5-25, 3-15).
