HAMBURG, NY – Visiting Clarke College raced to a three game sweep of the Hilbert College men’s volleyball team Wednesday night at the Hafner Recreation Center. With the 30-14, 30-17, 30-16 win, the Crusaders, out of Iowa improve to 9-5 on the season while the Hawks drop to 2-10.

Hilbert’s Bobby Gerhard (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) continued his strong play with five kills, nine digs and nine assists. Teammate Craig Kilgore chipped in with five kills, nine assists, and two assisted blocks in the losing effort. “I thought our effort was there and that we played hard”, commented Hawks coach Charlie Brittain. “We got stuck on some service runs and that was to our opponent’s advantage”.

The Hawks will look to regroup as Nazareth College comes to town on Tuesday, March 7th for a 7:00 PM match. The Golden Flyers took a 3-0 match from the Hawks back on January 31st, in Pittsford, NY.
