HOBOKEN, NJ – For the second game in a row, Hilbert College faced a top ten men’s volleyball program in the United Volleyball Conference eastern cross-over weekend. The Hawks surrendered to New York University in a three-set match February 12, dropping their UVC record to 1-3. NYU improves to 4-0 (6-2 overall) and holds onto their #7th ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Sophomore Adam Weaver’s (.211) hitting percentage completed the weekend as he led the Hawks with 7 kills. Freshman Stephen Phillips passed for 13 assists and junior Scott Ross earned 3.5 blocks for the afternoon.
An impressive stat for Hilbert was their 10.5 blocks even though the Violets doubled up the Hawks kills (36-15).
NYU finished the match with a team (.265) hitting percentage led by Luke Hamlet’s (.643) and 10 kills.
Following the weekend of crossover matches, three of the east region teams have winning records while Elmira College leads the west region with an unblemished record.
