Women’s Hoop Team Drops Two Over Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Hilbert College women’s basketball team lost two games this weekend in the Penn State Behrend Winter Classic. The Hawks lost Friday 64-47 to Penn State Behrend and fell 70-50 to Grove City College Saturday afternoon.
Autumn Lee-Jeffries (Holy Angels/Buffalo, NY) scored 16 points and blocked seven shots to lead Hilbert on Friday. Amanda Smolarek (Villa Maria/Lancaster, NY) scored five points to become Hilbert’s all-time leading scorer with 878 points. The record was previously held by Angie Modeste, who scored 865 points.
On Saturday, the Hawks were led by Kristen Curry (Wilson/Ransomville, NY), who scored 11 points and had four steals. Smolarek contributed nine points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. Curry was named to the all-tournament team for the weekend.
Hilbert (3-4) will return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday when they host Lake Erie College.
