HAMBURG, NY – Alfred University (6-17) outscored the Hilbert College women’s basketball team (6-17) 13-5 over the final 11:13 of play to pull away late and defeat the Hawks in a non-conference matchup, 53-44.  The victory gives the Saxons a season sweep of Hilbert College.

The game was close throughout the night, thanks to a 48-37 rebounding advantage for Hilbert.  The Hawks cold shooting, however, would lead to their demise, as they shot only 15% from the field in the second half, and 26% for the game.

Autumn Lee-Jeffries (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels) had her tenth double-double of the season (19 points, 11 rebounds) to lead Hilbert.  Amanda McHale (Bradford, PA/Archbishop Walsh), who leads the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in rebounding, pulled down 19 boards in the loss.  Michelle Kelly led Alfred with 15 points, while Colleen Lyons contributed eight points and 12 rebounds.

Hilbert College continues their schedule at home against conference opponent Penn State Altoona on Friday, February 18.  The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM
