PSB Too Much for HC Women’s Basketball

ERIE, PA – The Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team wasted no time Wednesday night showing why they are the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s top team. The Blue and White took out Hilbert College 72-38 and improve to a league best 17-2 overall and 12-1 in the conference.
The host Behrend Lions raced to a 32-14 halftime lead while holding the visiting Hawks to just five made field goals. The winners built a 37-point second-half lead on Gretchen Dudt’s layup with 2:36 to play before settling for the 34-point victory. The home team connected on six of 12 three-pointers while out rebounding the Hawks 40-29 on the night.
Julia Andrus paced the Behrend Lions with 22 points followed by Brittany Mays’ 13 and team-high six boards.
Lucy Zver (Troupsburg, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) scored eight points for Hilbert (1-18, 1-12) while teammate Amanda McHale (Bradford, PA/Archbishop Walsh) added six markers and a game-high 11 rebounds in a losing effort.
Hilbert will look to regroup at home this Saturday against the Mounties of Mount Aloysius College. Tip-off is schedule for 4:00 pm at the Hafner Recreation Center.
