Hilbert College men's and women's basketball teams took to the road Friday, November 20th to compete against the host teams in opening rounds of different tournaments.  Both teams were victims of their first round opponents which sets them up to play in the consolation games on Saturday, November 21 at 2pm.

The women's team took the court at 6pm against Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA.  The Cougars were hot from the field shooting 58.8% from the floor and took a commanding 49-13 lead at half time. The second half was just as tough for the Hawks since Hilbert shot 20% from the field while Chatham cooled off to 47%,   The Hawks were outrebounded 54-25 and gave up 19 offensive rebounds. Freshman Devin Davis (Waterbury, CT/Sacred Heart) lead the young Hawks with 6 points en route to the 87-26 loss. In the second game of the Chatham University Tournament Ursuline College beat Penn State –Greater Allegheny but no score is posted.

At 2pm Hilbert will play Penn State-Greater Alleghany in the consolation game while the host Chatham University will play Ursuline College at 4pm on Saturday, November 21.

Hilbert men’s basketball traveled to Juniata College in Juniata, PA to play the second game of the double header. The first game of the night saw Grove City defeat Penn State DuBois, 73-63.  In the 7:30pm game, Hilbert started slowly and never caught up. Juniata took a 54 – 29 lead to the locker room at half time after shooting 55% from the floor; they maintained that same spread the entire second half. The second 20 minutes found Hilbert coming alive on the offensive end but they couldn’t keep up with Juniata’s output; final score was 109-78. Hilbert had 5 guys reach double figures in scoring being led by freshman Roman Brown (Buffalo, NY/South Park) with 14 points after shooting 4-5 from the floor and 5-8 from the foul line.

At 2pm, Saturday, November 21,  Hilbert will face off against Penn State DuBois followed by Grove City taking on the host team, Juniata in the championship game at 4pm
