Women's Cross Country Runs At Harry Anderson

Chili, NY - The women’s cross country team at Hilbert College participate in the annual Harry F. Anderson race hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on September 25th. The women’s team finished the 5K course in a combined time of 3:22:57.59 resulting in an eleventh place finish. Hilbert’s fastest runner was junior Lanie Harrington (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) in a personal time of 33:45.43 good for 64 points towards the team’s combined total (334). Division II NCAA member, Mercyhurst College’s Cherie Jackson moved through the course (18:39.03) quickest, out distancing fellow AMCC opponent, Anya Bogdanets (D’Youville College) by almost a full minute (19:21.53). Fourteen of the top twenty runners are athletic scholarship recipients at their respective institutions. (click here to view the complete results of the race).

Hilbert’s four other competitors were: freshman Angela Borkowski (Buffalo, NY/Bennett) in a time of 34:18.13 (101); freshman Stephanie Laymon (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) in 38:54.45 (103); sophomore Stephanie Smith (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) in 40:59.58 (104) and freshman Raven Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush Henrietta) in 55:00.00 (106).

The Hawks will be hosting the second annual Meghan Memorial Race on Saturday, October 2nd to honor the memory of Meghan Sorbera, a former student-athlete and cross country member at Hilbert. The race is being held at Frontier high school with the women’s event beginning at 9:00 am. Interested runners should register on-line at  or register the morning of the race.
