HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Alfred University Saxons women’s soccer team shutout Hilbert College 3-0 Tuesday afternoon in the Hawks home opener. With the loss, Hilbert falls to 0-2 on the season.


The visiting Saxons clung to a 1-0 lead at the half before scoring two late goals in the second stanza to secure the win.


Hilbert goalie Wendy Brusso (Marion, NY/Marion) was busy throughout the afternoon turning away 19 shots on goal.


The Hawks are off until Sept. 22 when they play host to local rival D’Youville College at 4 p.m.
