Lady Hawks drop soccer opener, 1-0

HAMBURG, NY – Kimberly Drew found the back of the net 24:35 into the second-half to give the Lady Barons of Franciscan University a 1-0 win over Hilbert College on Saturday. The shutout loss is the first for the Hawks dating back to October 18th of last year.
Hilbert keeper Kelly Goodwin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) turned away eight saves in a losing effort while Franciscan’s Niki Taylor needed to make just four stops to get the win. The Lady Barons (1-0) Kendra Evangelho assisted on Drew’s game-winner to record her first point as a collegian.
Hilbert will regroup quickly for a game at Chatham University (0-0) on Sunday. Kick-off against the Cougars is scheduled for 2:00 pm in Pittsburgh, PA.
