KANSAS CITY, KS – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has garnished the Hilbert College women’s soccer program with numerous awards in ethics and sportsmanship through the years and this fall the Hawks continued the streak. The 2010 women’s soccer team (4-13, 1-8), under the direction of James Ruggiero, joined 72 NSCAA Team Ethics/Sportsmanship Award winners. Hilbert received the ‘Silver’ Award for completing a season with zero red cards and less than 5 yellow cards at the NSCAA convention in Baltimore earlier this month. This year marked nine seasons in a row that the program received an award for their fair play on the field.
The Hawks were awarded the ‘Gold’ award (2007, 2005, 2004 and 2002) for completing a season with zero red or yellow cards with alternating year’s receiving the Silver award (2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, and 2003).
