POTSDAM, NY – The Hilbert women’s soccer team returned with a 3-3 overall record after dropping a 4-0 non-conference match to Clarkson University September 18. The Hawks struggled to generate offensive pressure after sophomore Sarah Schmidt left the game in the 25th minute with a broken nose.
Clarkson took a 1-0 lead (21:36) when Sarah Andres used a through ball to find the net past Hilbert’s Mary Zinni. During the first 45 minutes, the Knights outshot the Hawks (17-3) and held a (5-0) advantage with corner kicks.
After intermission, Clarkson continued their offensive push and scored three quick goals over a span of 14 minutes to capture their fifth win of the season and continue on the programs best start in 30 years.
Clarkson’s Taylor Abraham finished the game with three points, scoring the final goal and assisting on the second rebound put-back score by Emily Garrant.
Hilbert must regroup and prepare for a game without Schmidt when they play at Chatham University September 22.
