BRADFORD, PA – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swept Hilbert College 11-0  and 8-0 in softball April 14 with the second game of the double header being a no-hitter. The Hawks struggled to make contact with the pitched softball as fifty-percent of the batters struck out during both games making for a very quick afternoon double header. Bradford moves to 7-1 in league play while the Hawks drop to 0-6.

In the first game, Bradford’s Sarah Angeletti went five innings against the Hawks holding the visitors to just four hits off the 19 at bats. Bradford scored at least two runs each inning and, after the Hawks didn’t score in the top of the fifth inning, the game ended with a mercy-rule.
After a brief intermission and field work, both teams started up again, almost where they left off. A pair of freshman pitchers combined to toss a perfect game.  The college rookies were overpowering for the Hawks and the second game ended after the top of the 5th inning didn’t produce any Hilbert runs.
Hilbert looks to rebound over the weekend when they face Franciscan University (0-12) on the road Saturday, and then host Mount Aloysius College (5-1) Sunday.
