AMCC Preseason Polls Released

PITTSBURGH, PA – Midnight madness has come and gone for college basketball indicating preseason polls will be released. The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference did just that - both the men’s and women’s preseason polls were released on Friday, October 23 and Hilbert College was picked close to where their team’s finished during the 2008-09 season.

 
On the men’s side, Medaille College was picked to finish first after receiving 6 first place votes, followed closely by Penn State Behrend and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Hilbert was picked to finish in 9th place out of the 11 team league. For a complete list and brief recap on each member school, click here.
 
Preseason Player of the Year honor was awarded to senior guard/forward Keith Hack of Medaille College. As a junior, Hack averaged 14.4 ppg and 4.9 rpg and was selected as a first team all-conference player.
 
On the women’s side, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg was an overwhelming choice for top spot after they received 9 of the 11 1st place votes. Penn State Altoona moves quickly up in the polls from previous year’s standings as they have been chosen as the number 2 favorite just a head of Penn State Behrend. Hilbert College was picked to finish 11th place. For a complete list and brief recap on each member school, click here.
 
After winning the league last season with a 17-1 conference record and being named Player of the Year, Greensburg returns the Preseason Player of the Year in senior forward Kelsey Wilcox.  As a junior, Wilcox averaged 15.7 ppg and 11.8 rpg and was second on her team in steals with 44.
 
Hilbert College men’s basketball team prepares for the start of their season by warming up Friday, November 6 with an exhibition game against Mohawk College at 7pm. Fans are invited to attend the preseason game at the Hafner Recreation Center and welcome the new squad to the court THEN travel to Danny’s Buffalo Cuisine for a team social after the game. 
 
The men’s first game of the season is set for Tuesday, November 17 at 7pm with a home game against Waynesburg University. Hilbert College women’s basketball team opens up their season on Sunday, November 15 at 2pm with a home game against Nazareth College.
