Hamburg, NY – The Hilbert College Hawks hosted the Hiram College Terriers September 19 in a women’s soccer and lost the match,  4-2.  The first half was quite a battle with the Terriers opening the scoring first only to find the Hawks retaliating after each of Hiram’s goals. Junior midfielder Alyssa Hulbert (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) {in photo to the right} scored both of Hilbert's goals before intermission.  The first score was off a direct kick from 35 yards out (placed in the upper right corner) and the second on a penalty kick after a hand ball was called. These two scores give Hulbert a total of six goals this season.

The Terriers took charge in the second half scoring two more goals for their  5th win of the season. Hilbert's junior goal keeper Mary Zinni (Batavia, NY/Batavia) covered the whole net working hard for her 16 saves for the game, nine of those coming in the second half. Hilbert drops to 2-5 as they were outshot for the game (36-13).

Hilbert plays again on Wednesday, September 22nd in a double header with the men's soccer team.  Both programs  will be hosting Thiel College with the women's game kicking off at 3 pm.
