Hilbert drops AMCC games in rain

Amherst, NY - The D’Youville College softball team swept their fourth straight conference doubleheader and the Spartans notched their seventh and eighth-straight wins by defeating visiting Hilbert college 9-2 and 12-9.
In game one won by D’Youville 9-2, Spartan’s pitcher Hannah Norton (Wyoming, NY/Pavilion) tallied 11 strikeouts and Kristie Ryan (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) went 1-2 with a double and two RBI.
Lisa Crowe (Eden, NY/Eden) drove in both Hilbert runs with a fifth-inning single.
Game two was a wild back and forth game that saw D’Youville rally in the sixth to win 12-9. Hilbert scored three in the first and two in the second. D’Youville rallied to go up 8-5 after the third. Hilbert scored three times in the sixth to lead 9-8 only to see D’Youville score four times in the sixth. The Hawks ended the game in seventh with runners on first and second.
Devan Jonathan (Basom, NY/Akron) went 3-4 with a double and Emili Ripley (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame) went 2-4 with two RBI for Hilbert.
Danielle Phillips (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) went 3-5 with 2 RBI. Hannah Norton came on in the second inning to get the win, upper her record to 10-4 on the year, and went 3-3 at the plate.
D’Youville improves to 10-2 in the AMCC, 14-6 overall. Hilbert drops to 1-20 overall, 0-12 in the AMCC.
