Buffalo, NY – The women’s volleyball team opened their portion of the AMCC league schedule September 24 with two games played at the Medaille College campus. Medaille, Hilbert, Franciscan and Pitt-Greensburg competed at one venue which allowed all programs to play two games in one day. Hilbert and Medaille were not scheduled to play each other because their AMCC game is set for September 28. Chelsea Reischuck led the Hawk offense with 15 kills and 5 aces (17 digs) in the two matches played. Of the team's 42 assists, Shannon Memminger touched 39 balls setting up teammates for their kills.
Hilbert lost to Pitt-Greensburg in the first match, 3-0. Freshman Jordan Botsford had 12 kills and Shannon Memminger earned 21 assists in the three-set (26-24, 25-16, 25-18) loss.
Against Franciscan, the Hawks had similar scores to their earlier game (28-26, 25-15, 25-14) starting strong in the first set then struggling to finish the match. Chelsea Reischuck had 9 kills and 3 service aces against Franciscan.
The Hawks return home September 26 when they host their first home contest at 7pm against Keuka College. This will be the third meeting with Keuka with the Hawks looking to capture their first match victory against the Storm (6-3).
