ERIE, PA – The Hilbert women’s volleyball team started the match on the offensive looking to capture their third match in a row, but Penn State Behrend’s team played great defense October 4, claiming a 3-0 victory in an AMCC game. After an intense first set, Penn State Behrend put the match away in the final two sets (25-17, 25-11, 25-11). Hilbert drops to 1-4 in AMCC play while Penn State Behrend’s improves to 1-2.

Sophomore Shannon Memminger led the Hawks in an all-around game with four kills, 12 assists, and 10 digs. Junior Devan Jonathan pounded five kills for Hilbert on offense. The Lions were tough on defense as they were able to keep rallies going denying the Hawks points off kills.

Mary Sperry led the Lions with nine digs, surpassing the 1,000-dig milestone for her career. Offensively, Stefanie Kelley added eight kills and nine digs for Penn State Behrend.

Up next for the Hawks (4-9, 1-4) is a road trip to Wilkes University for a tri-match October 8 against Scranton University and Wilkes. Hilbert is home again October 12 when they host to SUNY Oswego at 7pm.
