ERIE, PA - The Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team continued their strong showing in conference play by topping Hilbert College 3-0 Wednesday night. Hilbert went into the match looking for their first win in the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), but the Lions proved to be too much. Penn State Behrend earned a 30-15, 30-17, 30-9 sweep to improve to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The loss drops Hilbert to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in the AMCC.
The Hawks offensive game struggled with the team only registering 15 kills in 45 attempts. Kristy Gonciarz (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and Laura Stranc (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) combined for 10 kills with junior Missy Kick (Blasdell, NY/Mt. Mercy) contributing 13 assists in a losing effort.
Hilbert returns to AMCC play with a home match against Frostburg State at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 29th.
