Steubenville, OH:   The Hawks dropped another close game this weekend as they were defeated 73-66 by Franciscan University of Steubenville on Sunday, February 7. Freshman forward Roman Brown (Buffalo, NY/South Park) recorded his second double double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Cody Troutman (South Dayton, NY/ JCC) dished out six assists while also adding 12 points in the loss. Freshman guards Dan McFarland (Lancaster, NY/St. Mary’s) and Eric Hinton (Bedford, OH/ St. Peter Chanel) {pictured below} contributed a combined 27 points in the defeat as well. Hilbert falls to 1-15 in the AMCC and 2-19 overall.

After trailing by as many as 10 points within the first few minutes of the game, the Hawks battled back and cut the deficit to three after a lay up by sophomore forward Jonathan Minnix (Washington, D.C./Washington Christian) with :03 remaining in the first half.

Franciscan out scored the Hawks 34-31 in the first half and 39-35 in the second half resulting in the 73-66 defeat. Seven players would put points on the scoreboard for the Hawks, but the Barons 49.6 overall shooting percentage would lift them past Hilbert for the win.

The Barons were led by Connor Flanagan who contributed 23 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. The win improves the Barons AMCC record to 5-12 and 6-15 overall.

The Hawks will play their final home games of the season on Wednesday, February 10, against D’Youville College and Saturday, February 13, as they take on Mt. Aloysius. Tip off on Wednesday is set for 8 p.m. in the Hafner Recreation Center.
