HCOnline

HCOnline, or Hilbert College Online, is the College's online courseware.  The courseware is used for online classes as well as offline, on-campus courses.  HCOnline serves as a repository for materials, lectures, grades, and any other content the course instructor elects to place on the site.  The courseware is also known as "ANGEL."

Access to HCOnline/ANGEL is coordinated through the same user name and password used to access the school's network, but omits the "@hilbert.edu" portion of the username.

To access HCOnline/ANGEL, go here: http://hconline.hilbert.edu.

Frequently Asked HCOnline Questions:

  • My ANGEL login page says I've been disabled.

We disable unneeded accounts when a student is not enrolled for a given semester, including summer semester due to licensing requirements.  If your account has been disabled and you're to return next semester, it will be automatically reinstated at that time.  We will be unable to reactivate your ANGEL account if you are not a currently enrolled student.  There will be no exceptions to this policy.  If you ARE currently enrolled and find your account still disabled after the start of classes, please email us.

  •  ANGEL isn't working right.

Please verify the System Check on ANGEL's homepage has not found any problems.  If it has and you're not sure how to remedy the issue, please let us know.  If the System Check finds no issues and you're still experiencing issues, please let us know.

Note: AOL, Opera, and Safari are NOT supported browsers.  Please use Internet Explorer 7 or greater, or Mozilla Firefox.  No other browsers will be supported.

  • It says "access denied" all over.  What gives?

When this error arises, it's usually becuase you're utilizing an unsupported browser.  On ANGEL's homepage, before you login, scroll down to glance at the System Check.  Check to make sure you're using a supported browser: Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8 or Mozilla Firefox 3.0+ will provide you with the best experience.

  • I'm signed up for course X, but it's not appearing on ANGEL.  Can you add it?

During the drop/add period, it may take 24 hours for your class to be added.  If after two days your class is still missing, please stop in.  Please bring your registration information.

No.  They are seperate messaging servers and services.  HCOnline/ANGEL uses an internal messaging system that remains within that system.  Hilbert Email is email that is connected with the Internet outside of the college.  There, you can send mail internal to the college (e.g., a professor) send mail to a job recruiter on the outside, or even friends and family.  When someone emails you at username@hilbert.edu, the Hilbert Email inbox is where it will end up.  Instructors utilize both messaging systems, so check them frequently.

  • Can my ANGEL mail be forwarded to my Hilbert Email?

Yes! If you prefer, ANGEL can be configured to forward all ANGEL messages to your Hilbert Email.  When logged in, click the Preferences button on the left (looks like a person's head, just above the chat bubble/ANGEL Live button), select System Settings, and then enter in your email address under Forwarding Settings, being sure to choose an appropriate Forwarding Mode.  Click save when finished.
