Creative Services

The Marketing & Communications Department is responsible for the visual marketing and identity of the college. We also coordinate all print projects to facilitate estimates and production.

From banners and billboards, to print and electronic advertising, publications, posters, invitations and more, Marketing & Communications manages all these services --- campus wide.

The college’s wordmark and graphic standards are available online, but we can provide help using the college’s wordmark on any publication, apparel or item for sale or distribution.

Photography and videography visually tell the Hilbert College story. Both are powerful marketing tools that build brand and reputation awareness to the college’s important constituents.  Our video and photography are purposeful and, generally, story driven.  Coverage of campus events cannot always be accommodated.

Our marketing area creates engaging campaigns to support the Hilbert College Strategic Plan, enrollment initiatives, and sustain the Hilbert College brand and image. We promote awareness by utilizing a wide range of tactics and techniques as well as use available market research to help determine the best strategy to reach your target audience. Our mission is to promote, maintain, and enhance the image of the College.

Marketing & Communications is here to help you, but before making a request, you should have a general sense of your project’s scope – will you need writing, design and/or photography, what format will best suit your objectives (brochure, booklet, postcard, other), what is your overall budget and when do you need delivery. The creative and production process can take anywhere from several weeks to many months.

Communications Services

As content clarifies and promotes the college’s brand position and supports our strategic goals, Marketing & Communications provides professional writing and editing services for publications produced by all college departments and offices as needed. The writing style guide is available online.

Print publications include: Hilbert College Magazine (alumni magazine), admissions pieces, newsletters, etc. Publications are available online.

Marketing & Communications produces the online newsletter Hilbert Weekly, which is delivered weekly to faculty and staff.  We also produce external blog/news sources Hilbert Today and Hilbert CommUNITY, which are targeted to current and prospective students.

We also assist in the development of publications for special events required by the college and various departments. Marketing & Communications facilitates crisis communications, via social media and on the Web site.

News Services

Marketing & Communications coordinates media relations for the college and is the main liaison for news bureaus and reporters seeking information or experts for stories they are working on. The office sends out press releases to constituent and news outlets to inform, pitch stories and publicize news, programs, and events.  The office also serves as chief media contact for day-to-day news on campus and acts as the voice of the college in the event of an emergency.

Web Services

Web services provides creation and development of Web content, Web design and Sitefinity content management use and training. Web Services manages the college's website, assists with web communication strategy, and offers technical and graphic design solutions.  We also maintain the official social media sites of the college: Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+ and more.

The Marketing & Communications Department handles Hilbert College licensing.  Any and all licensing agreements are executed by the Marketing & Communications Department, including those that apply to legally protected logos and wordmarks for Hilbert College departments, including, but not limited to, athletics, institutional advancement, and adult & grad.

Hilbert College Vice President Elected Commissioner for Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Jan 16, 2018

Rick Pinkowski photoHAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Vice President for Business/Finance Richard J. Pinkowski, Jr. (Hamburg, NY) was elected to a three-year term as a Middle States Commissioner.  The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) was established in 1919. It is a voluntary, non-governmental, peer-based membership organization dedicated to educational excellence and improvement through peer evaluation and accreditation.

Pinkowski has served as Hilbert’s Vice President for Business/Finance since 1990. He has served as a finance reviewer on visiting teams for MSCHE for more than 20 years. He was a panel presenter on the topic, "Coming Waves of Affiliation in Higher Education" at the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Higher Education Accounting Forum in 2015 and he has also served as the Chair of EACUBO's Buffalo Region Area Planning Committee. A certified public accountant, Pinkowski has extensive experience in finance and accounting for higher education institutions. Prior to joining Hilbert, he served at Villanova University and the University of Notre Dame.

MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (Candidacy status) activities for institutions of higher education in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, including distance education and correspondence education programs offered at those institutions.

Hilbert College, located in suburban Hamburg, N.Y., south of Buffalo, is a private four-year college founded in 1957 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition. With nearly 900 students, Hilbert is a dynamic Western New York college that offers career-focused majors, including one of the top criminal justice programs in the region, and more than 50 minors and concentrations. The college’s engaging, student-centered campus community offers numerous leadership, internship, and service learning opportunities from which students launch successful careers while making positive changes in their communities. The Hilbert Blueprint promotes a well-rounded student experience over four years – starting with the Foundations Seminar in the freshman year, followed by Sophomore Service, Junior Symposium, and culminating with the Senior Capstone. Hilbert has expanded its academic offerings with the college’s first graduate programs and evening degree programs geared to adult learners.
