- Be shy and reticent, with a lack of self-confidence.
- Indicate that you are a "window shopper," a candidate who already knows where he or she will probably work, but who just wants to check around in the job market.
- Indicate that you are not sure what you want to do.
- Ask for counseling in the interview.
- Bring a copy of your senior class project for "show and tell."
- Have a nervous mannerism such as drumming your fingers on the desk or ending each statement with "...you know?"
- Do not ask any challenging questions. Instead, say things like, "Boy, it really sounds great. I can't think of any questions."
- Apologize because you did not have time to read the company's literature in the placement office.
- Knock on the door to get the interviewer to hurry up with the evaluation he or she is trying to complete on the last candidate.
- Answer a question with that age old statement, "I really like working with people."
