Types of Resumes

Historical (reverse chronological)
List past employment in date order with the most recent experience listed first. Use this format when there has been a strong continuing work history related to your career direction.

Functional
This resume consists of a selection from your total experience of only the parts related to the job you are seeking. This type is appropriate when you have had a variety of jobs unrelated to your career goal.

Combination
This resume consists of a combination of chronological and functional formats. Using this format enables you to show a relationship between your skills and experiences.

Analytical
This format is designed to show you possess skills, abilities and training to handle the job you seek, even if you have no paid experience to your credit. Use this type when you want to focus on a specific position and tailor the resume accordingly.

Imaginative
You can create a format that shows your personality in a unique way. This type is often used to sell talent such as in art, music or drama.
